Our bakery is female-established, run, and also inspired by powerful and creative women. We create baked goods, using the most local and organic ingredients we can find. Our specialty is sourdough bread and this is what started the bakery. We wanted to create loaves of delicious bread which reminds us of our Grandma’s place in Germany, but also is nutritional and beneficial for your body. Our inspiration for our sweet buns comes from all over Europe, adapting flavours and recipes to bring a little bit of spice to our small seaside town. Our bakery started in a converted family garage and after two years of hard graft, early starts (starting at 6pm to bake through the night for markets), copious amounts of sugar and tonnes of flour we decided to move into a proper bakery space. We fundraised, applied for grants and loans and got enough cash to move into our permanent home right by the sea in Eastbourne. Our hard work comes from the inner need to prove to ourselves that we can and will do better. Each loaf that we put on the shelf is made with love, attention and care and we believe that because of this, our reputation and clientele has built to where it is today.
