Barony Mill

Flour Mill

Barony Mill, which was built in 1873, is Orkney’s only working watermill.

The grains and corn ground at Barony Mill are bere which is an ancient form of barley. Barony Mill is the main mill in the UK which deals with bere.

The grinding is done during the winter, and the mill is open in the summer for tours where you can see demonstrations of the mill working.

They produce fine, medium and coarse beremeal (the flour made from bere). You can purchase their flours online (via their website) or from stockists, which are also listed on their website.
