Market in Edinburgh

Scotland Trip: Part Two – Farmers Market in Edinburgh

A couple of weeks ago, we spent a glorious weekend on the Scottish Borders. We made our base the wonderful Landmark Trust house of College Hill cottage in Roslyn, and from there toured Edinburgh and the surrounding countryside.

We were struck by the splendidness of Edinburgh New Town with its grand boulevards and Georgian architecture. Here are a few of our snaps …

Tucked below Edinburgh Castle’s imposing walls on Castle Terrace is the Saturday morning farmer’s market.  Here can be found a wonderful array of local produce and specialities – smoked salmon, fresh fish, locally grown vegetables, Stichill Jersey’s fresh cream, delicious bread from Andante Bakery, marvellous cheese, Annanwater’s local meat and Hammond Charcuterie to name but a few.  We ate well for supper!!!!

Edinburgh Farmer’s market is open 9am-2pm every Saturday.
