On Sunday I ventured up to Marylebone Farmers Market, in, you guessed it, Marylebone! My trip to the market is one of the highlights of my week, I love going from stand to stand, discovering new independent producers and buying super fresh quality ingredients.
I’ve been spending more time in London lately and, with that, comes the discovery of local producers and the London farmers markets.
The market is hosted by London Farmers Markets who also hold Pimlico Farmers Market and Walthamstow Farmers Market plus many others across the city (I’m slowly working my way round them all).
Marylebone Farmers Market is far bigger than I was expecting with a great selection of stands selling local quality fresh from the farm ingredients. Some farmers markets are a little hit or miss in London as they tend to be more focussed on ‘eat now’ food rather than a place to buy groceries. But this was an absolute hit!
I started off by having a look round and spotted some producers I’d seen before at such as Chegworth Valley, Hollis Mead Dairy and Castlemead Poultry as well some I hadn’t come across – Dallaways Cherries, The Potato Shop and Akiki Organics.
My first stop was Chegworth Valley. I bought some seasonal broad beans and fresh garden peas as well as an onion, leek and broccoli. Along with the fresh produce they were also selling some of their small batch raspberry preserve and pear and apple cider vinegar.
I wondered past Jone’s Crumpets and Lord Pesto but I wasn’t in need of crumpets or pasta this week, next time though!
Wild Country Organics had a wonderful stand, stacked high with a variety of more unusual varieties such as yellow courgettes, which I bought two of.
Westlands was also there, a company I discovered a couple of weeks ago but thought it was only wholesale so it was great to see them at the market too.
I had to stop by Isle of Wight tomatoes because at this point its mandatory! I bought a selection of their tomatoes and two aubergines.
This week I was only really in need of some fresh vegetables but another time I will absolutely be going back to buy some fresh fish and support some other producers.
What are Marylebone Farmers Market Opening Hours?
