Wiltshire: The Gourmet Goat Farmer

I was brought up drinking goat’s milk and love its rich, distinctive flavour. However, I’ve found it very difficult to buy local goat’s milk direct from the farm, until now.

The Gourmet Goat Farmer, near Avebury in Wiltshire, sells its own meat and a broad range of cheeses and milk from other goat farms in the area.

I adore goats so was particularly thrilled to be greeted by some of the Gourmet Goat’s herd on arrival and then to visit more in the nearby barns. They were immaculately looked after, all super curious and with great, individual personalities.

Although their shop and cafe is small they sell a large range of goat cheeses from like-minded artisan producers including the Cornish Cheese Company’s Cornish Nanny as well as local goat’s milk from The Grazing Goat. If you are a goat meat fan, then this is also the place for you as they sell a range of meat cuts including Racks, Leg Steaks, and Loin Chops.

The milk from the Grazing Goat was solely pasteurised and very fresh. Wow!!  did it taste good!
