A Model Cooks

I think it’s time for a little introduction, so…

I’m Honor. I’m a model with a passion for organic, slow-grown, seasonal, unprocessed food and supporting local independent producers and shops. Why? Because the nutritional value is likely to be higher. And I am fascinated by how what I eat impacts my health and well-being, which, in turn, also impacts my work.

I love cooking. It’s the joy of turning a selection of fresh ingredients into a wonderfully flavoured dish that can take so many different forms. It doesn’t have to be a complicated recipe or use lots of ingredients to look and taste great and that is what I want to share through my recipes. I’m not a trained cook or nutritionist. I’m just a model who’s learning and improving as I go along.

I try to buy ‘direct from the farm’. I started this website, nearHome, during the first Covid lockdown to highlight the UK’s vast variety of local, independent food growers and producers. I get excited to discover a grower and miller of heritage grains, slow-reared grass-fed meats, watch milking time on the farm and drink the warm raw milk. I like to know where my food comes from and what goes into making it.

With ‘A Model Cooks’, I want to start merging my two loves, nearHome and modelling; to share what I cook as a model, highlighting seasonal ingredients and the independents I find along the way.

With modelling comes travel. I’m lucky that my job allows me to see the world, experience different cultures and learn about local life in a way a tourist can’t. This also means I get to discover wonderful independents all over the world, from near my home in the South West of England to the rest of the UK, France, Italy, Japan and beyond. I want to share these discoveries here along with recipes using seasonal and local produce from wherever my work takes me.

If you’re not a fashion-loving foodie, don’t worry. I want this blog to focus on seasonal foods and independents I find, whilst travelling and at home. I’m sure there will be snippets of fashion here and there but I’ll keep most of that to my personal Instagram!

So that’s me. I’d love for you to follow along and you can find me on the nearHome Instagram or my Substack!
