Barker Bros Butchers, started in 1843, is an independent family-run business and is currently in the hands of the 4th generation. Now run by Stuart who has been working in the shop since he was 14, they sell locally sourced meats for example their beef is mainly from Harlton Farms which is located just round the corner from the butchers’ shop.
They take pride in the produce they sell and butchering takes place in the shop itself. If the cut you are after isn’t on display, just ask. Their selection includes free-range beef, they use British breeds such as Aberdeen Angus, Hereford and the local Red Poll, lamb most of which is sourced from Lincolnshire and pork sourced as locally as possible from Somersham. They also sell their award-winning sausages which are made freshly every day in the shop and they have 25 different varieties available throughout the year. They have poultry, game and other meats available and their free-range chickens come from a farm in Suffolk.
